HP Creates Novel Wireless Chip
Jul 24, 2006
Researchers at Hewlett-Packard Labs (HP) have developed a tiny wireless data chip that can be placed or embedded in just about anything and provide access to information and content currently found on the Internet and electronics.
The chip has several potential business and consumer applications, including: adding security features to ID cards, storing medical records on a patient’s hospital wristband, and anti-counterfeit tags. The experimental memory device of the chip is based on a widely used type of semiconductor (CMOS), is about 2mm to 4mm in size, and is completely self-contained.
