Breakthrough in Sensors

Continuous in situ cleaning of carbon nanotubes with UV light enables PPQ level of gas detection

Research announcement courtesy of Honda Research Institute, US

By continuous cleaning of carbon nanotube surface with UV light during gas detection, a team at the Honda Research Institute (HRI) have achieved sensitivities up to 10,000 times better than current state-of-the-art results. Dr. Gugang Chen, Senior Scientist at HRI, believes the work constitutes a significant advance in the sensor field. The work of Dr. Chen and his research team has recently been published; to view the paper, visit: http://www.nature.com/srep/2012/120329/srep00343/full/srep00343.html
