California Start-Up Introduces QuantumFilm

Company’s QuantumFilm Image Sensors Would Replace Silicon
QuantumFilm’s image sensors are the world’s first commercially-available quantum-dot based sensors. InVisage Technologies, Inc., unveiled its QuantumFilm image sensors this month at a conference in Palm Desert, CA. The technology for QuantumFilm is based on quantum dots, and according to the company’s news release, works by “capturing an imprint of a light image, and then employing silicon beneath it to read out the image and turn it into versatile digital signals.” The patent-protected technology for the advanced sensors has been in development by the company for a number of years. To date, InVisage has received more than $30M in venture capital financing from leading private equity firms including Rockport Capital, Charles River Ventures, and OnPoint Technologies.
