The nanocrystal technology that produces red, green and blue laser light from one material could lead to advanced digital displays and other devices that utilize these laser colors at the same time, such as Blu Ray DVD players. The colloidal quantum dots have an inner core of cadmium and selenium alloy, coated with zinc, cadmium and sulfur alloy, and binded together using a proprietary organic molecular adhesive. Researchers at Brown created the technology, and QD Vision of Massachusetts synthesized the nanomaterials using a wet chemical process.
