Computer Simulations and Experimental Study of Graphane-Like Materials Produced by Electrolytic Hydrogenation

Graphane and graphane-like materials in spite of their recent origin [1,2] are objects of great interest for many researchers, because of very wide field of their potential applicability: hydrogen energetic, electronics, materials science etc. The paper presents computer simulations and experimental investigations of graphane-like materials with various levels of hydrogenation. Graphane-like materials were experimentally produced by mechanical exfoliation of multilayer highly oriented pyrolytic graphite preliminary doped electrolytically [3] and studied by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy. Raman data, in particular, showed the essential contribution of hydrogenated state and the correlation between the time of hydrogenation and the amplitudes of the peaks, related to “graphane-like” state.
