We present a five input majority gate (MAJ5) designed in the quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) technology. Unlike previous designs, our design is planer, uses integral cell placement and allows inputs and outputs from the peripheral cells. Thus, this paper presents the first design of MAJ5 that may be practical. We also present applications of MAJ5 in nanoarchitectures and provide a robust design that can stand (with 50% probability) failure of single cells.
