As the use of renewable electricity grows, energy storage is becoming a better solution to grid destabilization challenges associated with resource intermittency. With cost being a key barrier to widespread adoption, buoyant energy storage technology is being investigated for its potential merits in efficiency and cost effectiveness. This paper builds on previous work by continuing the investigation of the dynamics for a simple buoyant energy storage system through the addition of various complexities. Computer modeling and simulation are utilized to estimate system performance and demonstrate commercially available component parameters for electrical and mechanical systems.
