Purpose: The objective of this study was to exam the therapeutic effects of silver nanoparticle on the inflammatory disease of the temporomandibular joint in the animal model. Materials and Method: Mustard oil was injected to the temporomandibular joint of the mouse for inducing arthritis. The negative control was vaseline and the positive control was ketoprofen ointment. Test group received topical application of the ointment including silver nanoparticle on preauricular area. The amount of food intake was checked every 2 hours. One group was sacrificed at 8 hours after topical application and the other group was sacrificed at 72 hours after. The samples were fixed and done the histological exam. Results: Functional recovery was faster in the group which received the silver nano-ointment. At 72 hours after, the results between the silver nano-ointment group and ketoprofen group were similar, but it was superior to the negative control (P
