Trialkoxyorganosilanes containing p-methoxybenzoyl group were sybthesized and polymerized in shapes of spheres. The resulting spherical powder had narrow size distributions and showed promising characteristics as organic-inorganic hybrid UV blocking agents. Regardless of the sizes of powders, no whitening took place unlike other UV blocking agents with similar sizes. These particles also showed high boosting effect to have SPF values up to 50. Preparation of spheres and some prototype cosmetic products will be presented.
