We build on our recently reported work in Nano letters describing coating of nanoparticle cargoes with virus envelope proteins to show that the method works for viruses other than ecotropic murine leukemia viruses. We also track the virus-envelope coated nanoparticles into cells using real-time microscopy on live cells. We discuss the potential benefits of using this method to target drugs to specific cells and subcellular compartments.
