We are proposing an all-electrical approach to mechanical cell diagnostics that uses a combination of electromanipulation for stimulus and capacitance for sensing. We have successfully used the capacitive sensor to detect the electrical trapping (using MHz frequency voltages) of yeast cells onto gold electrodes in a microfluidic channel.
