NSTI Announces Nanotechnology Excellence Awards

Largest US-based nanotech conference program, Nanotech 2006, to honor winners at fund raising event hosted By NSTI and Museum of Science, Boston.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 3, 2006--The Nano Science & Technology Institute ( today announced the inaugural Nanotechnology Excellence Awards, the largest technology awards program in the U.S. and a key component of this year's Nanotech 2006 event. The awards program is dedicated to recognizing significant achievements from the world of research and industry in multiple sectors, including electronics, life sciences, materials and energy. The NSTI Nanotechnology Excellence Award winners will be announced at a fund raising event co-hosted by the Museum of Science on Tuesday, May 9 (See today's release titled, "Nano Science and Technology Institute and Museum of Science To Host National Awards Banquet and Fund Raiser").

"As the largest NanoTech event in the country, this year's awards program is dedicated to recognizing all of these outstanding achievements from both the academic and business communities and ultimately helping inspire further innovation in the years ahead."

The NSTI Nanotechnology Excellence Awards program was created to recognize outstanding participants in the nanotechnology community for both scientific and entrepreneurial excellence. Winners of this award will be determined through an expert peer review process consisting of academia, government, corporate and investment experts in nanotechnology and its related fields. The Nanotechnology Excellence Awards program consists of two tracks, the first for research papers and the second for intellectual property (IP) and early stage companies. For each track, awards will be presented for achievements in four distinct categories including electronics and microsystems, life science and medicine, materials and technology, and consumer and energy.

The Nanotech 2006 show is scheduled for May 7-11 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston and will feature more than 300 exhibitors and attract more than 3,000 attendees. The award winners will be announced at a fund-raising event taking place on the evening of May 9 at the convention center and co-hosted by the Museum of Science, Boston.
