Alois K. Popp

Alois K. Popp

Unilever R&D Vlaardingen, The Netherlands

Since 2002, Dr. Alois K. Popp is with Unilever R&D Vlaardingen, The Netherlands, where his work has focused on different projects around gels and small particles (even nanoscale) in line with previous experience, their measurement (especially optical and X-ray), and their influence on macroscopic appearance (often in close collaboration with Krassimir Velikov). Dr. Popp was born in in Miesbach, Bavaria, Germany, and received a Diploma in Physics from TU Munich, Germany, and a Ph.D. in 1999 from MPI f. Biochemistry, in Martinsried, Germany and TU Munich. His postgraduate studies (1999-2002) were performed at the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University (‘soft condensed matter physics group’, Prof. David Weitz), mainly working on laser- based optical/microscopy techniques to quantify heterogeneous microstructure of biological tissues.

Speaking in the special symposium on Soft Nanotechnology.
