Synthesis and optoelectronic properties of arrayed ZnO nanorods grown on ZnO film/ (Pt, Si) in aqueous solutions

ZnO nanomaterials has many technology applications in luminescent devices, photonic crystals, light emitting diodes, photodetectors, photodiodes.ZnO nanorods are being intensively studied because of their optical properties. ZnO nanorods were synthesized by the thermal decomposition of Zinc nitrate Hexahydrate Zn(NO3)2.6H2O and Hexamethylenetramine (HMT) (C6 H12N4) . Various substrates were prepared for the growth of ZnO nanorods; such as Platinum and p type Silicon (100) with sputtered ZnO film, (ZnO/Pt, ZnO/Si). The morphology of ZnO nanorods were examined by Scanning electron microscopy and the chemical compositions were examined by X- ray diffraction. The nucleation on the substrate is very important to form good quality films, and also the control of temperature, pH and mole ratios will be crucial for satisfactory results. Obtained information will be used to explore the synthesis of ZnO nanorods for potential applications as optoelectronics sensors, transducers, and biomedical devices.
