Self-Assembly Arrayed One-Dimensional ZnO Nanorods by Hydrothermal Technique

This work presents a new method to self-assembly ZnO nanorods on bundles and on shell of the microspheres. Growth of ZnO nanorods on the microsphere surface as well as on the flat substrate has been demonstrated using hydrothermal synthesis. The chemistry involved in the growth of ZnO and self-assembly is also discussed. The morphologies and structures of the nanomaterials were studied by using SEM, XRD, TEM, and photoluminescence. Self-assembly ZnO nanoarchitectures showed novel characteristics and the specific structure of the highly oriented one-dimensional nanorods may find applications in nanoelectronics and photonics. The main advantage of the procedure is possibility to be used in fabrication of electronic and photonic nanodevices.
