Preparation and Characterization of Chitosan Nanocrystal

Chitosan crystal with three dimensional (3D) single-crystalline microarchitechtures were synthesized for the first time by heterogeneous nucleation from amorphous chitosan nanoparticle seeded with small intestinal submucosa powder. The physiochemical characterization revealed that the nucleation and growth mechanism, with the shape evolution from dot-like nanoparticles to 3D urchin-like microsphere composed of nanofibers and crystalline phase transformation.
