NSTI Announces Top Picks For Early Stage Companies Reviews at Nanotech Ventures 2005

The Nano Science and Technology Institute (NSTI) today announced its Nanotech Ventures Conference Top Picks for 2005 Early Stage companies. The record attendance event held at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel & Conference Center featured over 50 early stage nanotech companies presenting to packed rooms of observers and vetting teams comprised of some of the top names in nano business.
(PRWEB) May 20, 2005 -- “Nanotech Ventures 2005 Early Stage Company Review provided an ideal forum for seed to early-stage companies to showcase their technologies, market advantages, and to search for funding and “go-to-market” partners.” said Matthew Laudon of the Nano Science & Technology Institute, producers of the event. “The vetted companies were given 15 minutes to present and address on-site feedback from Nanotech Ventures Vetting Team.” Over 100 early stage companies submitted their business plans into the event. This year’s vetting team includes representatives from such firms as: IBM, Intel Capital, Mohr, Davidow Ventures, Burns Doane, DuPont Ventures, ChevronTexaco Technology Ventures, Dorsey & Whitney LLP, Motorola Investments, Echelon Ventures, Echelon Ventures, Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, Harris and Harris Group, Greenberg Traurig, 3i, UBS and Draper Fisher Jurvetson.

The goal of the Early Stage event is to unite early stage public and pre-IPO small-technology products and intellectual property (IP) with industrial users, funding sources, technology providers and the media and analysts community. This venue will be used to promote the global commercial maturation across the nanotechnology landscape, from technology to products.

This year’s “TOP PICK” awards went to: NanoOpto Corporation, Molecular Imprints, Inc. and ViaLogy Corporation. “We were very pleased to play a major role in this year’s event.” said Rick Trecartin, Partner in Dorsey & Whitney’s San Francisco office, and co-chair of the nanotechnology industry group. “The presentations overall were outstanding and we’re very excited to see the technology that is coming out of the labs ready for commercial use.” Dorsey & Whitney LLP is a global law firm providing a full range of services to companies from their inception and beyond and was a leading sponsor for the event.

All presenting companies were clustered by focus industry area and included: Healthcare with Inovatia Lab., Alpha-O Peptides, 3DM Inc., AptaSense, and Nano Interface Technology, Inc., presenting; Biotech featuring Biophan Technologies, Inc., Cambridge Biomagnetics, CytImmune Sciences, Inc., Midatech Limited, Nano S Biotechnologie, NanoBioMagnetics, Inc., NanoTechLogic Corporation, Nanotrope, Inc., Raustech Pty.Ltd., Russian Biotechnologies and ViaLogy Corp.: Electronics will have Arccure technologies, Nanometrix, Inc., NanoOpto Corporation, Nanopower Technologies, Inc., Optimer Photonics, Inc. and XCom Wireless, Inc.; Materials includes presentations by Advanced Diamond Technologies, Inc., Applied MicroStructures, Atomistix A/S, Ceimig Ltd, ENSbio, Nanothinx and Solaris Nanosciences; Energy features Akermin, Blu-Si, Collossus Nanotech and QuantumSphere; Sensors has Applied Standard, BioNano Systems, Cantion A/S, CENTICE Corp., MET Tech and SENSIA presenting; Instrumentation featuring Digital Matrix Corp, Focal Point Microsystems, Iatia Ltd, Ionscope lLimited, Molecular Imprints, Prodyne Corp. and Quantum Precision Instruments.
