| Abstract: | Recently, a fiber composite for various industrial applications including automotive, aerospace and civil engineering is in the spotlight as a specialized-functional material such as high strength and modulus, high thermal resistance and high elasticity etc. Especially, when the composite has a continuous nanofibrous component having high performance LCP(liquid crystal polymer) as a reinforcement, excellent properties compared to existing are expected. In this study, a sheath(PET)-core(PAR) fiber was spun by a special technique, so called conjugate spinning for manufacturing the PAR(polyarylate) nanofiber reinforced PET(polyethylene terephthalate) composite.Using the PET-PAR conjugated fiber, a PAR fiber reinforced PET composite can be obtained by arranging the fibers compactly and melting the PET matrix. Mechanical properties of the sheath-core fibers were tested and evaluated with the PAR content and the spinning speed. And Tensile and flexural properties of the PAR/PET composites were analyzed by a tensile tester. Also, crystallization and orientation behaviors were investigated with the XRD (X-ray diffraction). |
