| Abstract: | In this study, we propose a novel yet simple method to generate titanium oxide 3-D nanofibrous structures on the titanium implants using femtosecond laser machining. The femtosecond laser pulses hit the titanium substrate and generate a mass quantity of nanoparticles. The nanoparticles aggregate with each other in a semi-solid state and form a 3-D nanofibrous structure on the surface. X-ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis shows that the titanium surfaces have been mainly converted to titanium oxide nanofibrous structure after laser irradiation. The bioactivity of the Ti surface with different morphology has been evaluated using SBF. The synthesized 3-D nanofibrous structures can advance titanium interfacial properties to improve cell-implant surface interaction and develop new functional biomaterials. |
