Abstract:
A series of Poly(imide-urethane)-POSS membranes were synthesized through the condensation reaction of anhydride terminated prepoly(imide) (API) and isocyanate terminated prepoly(urethane)POSS (IPU) by varying the amount of API and IPU . The API was synthesized by using 3, 3’, 4, 4’ benzophenon tetracarboxylic anhydride and Hexamethylene diisocyanate (HMDI) by condensation reaction. IPU was synthesized by using Poly(dimethylsiloxane) bis(hydroxylalkyl) terminated, HMDI and Heptacyclopentyl tricycloheptasiloxane triol (POSS) in the presences of DBDTL catalyst. The structures of polymers were characterized by AT-FTIR analysis. The polymers were found to be stable upto 320°C then the contribution of POSS and its dispersion in the membranes were studied by contact angle, AFM and SEM microscopy.
