Wide Area Deposition of Transparent Flexible Nanocomposites

,

Keywords: , ,

Our group has been involved in the deposition of thin film nanocomposites via spin coating in which the optical and mechanical properties of the composites is controlled by the volume packing of the inorganic nanoparticles. Our recent work has been focused on moving the technology from small area deposition (fraction of square meters) to transparent substrates several square meters in area. We will discuss the chemistry, process and equipment needed to move the evaporative spin coating of nanocomposites to cover wide areas. The deposition represents a significant reduction in costs and offers a versatile process to cover a number of film depositions.
