| Abstract: | Magnificent opalescent effects are observed from the interaction between light and Nano Crystalline Cellulose (NCC). Leaving a thin liquid NCC suspension to slowly evaporate, a dry polycrystalline nematic cholesteric wafer was obtained. It was observed that the monocrystals are made of a very special stratification of submicrometric nematic lattices, leading to calculable chromatic and optical effects. |
