| Abstract: | Through proper functionalization of the surface of CNTs, covalent bonds can be formed with the epoxy matrix. In addition, by breaking the van de waals force, CNTs can be well dispersed in the epoxy matrix enabling a uniform composite material. A uniform material with covalent bonds with the CNTs and epoxy material have enabled improvements in mechanical properties previously unseen. We will discuss the results of our research and development including successes and ongoing challenges. |
