Abstract:	The comparison of the AC-dielectric breakdown strength of transformer oil based magnetic fluid with pure transformer oil confirmed better insulating properties of magnetic fluid in external magnetic field. The better heat transfer properties provided by magnetic fluid in generally enables to use studied magnetic fluid in power transformers as insulating fluid.
