The main goal of this paper is to present in detail the design and operation of an ASIC, which will be used in the research aimed at the development of a real time temperature monitoring system. This circuit will serve two major purposes: gathering the information necessary for the conception of sensor placement strategies and the elaboration of robust algorithms for real time estimation of circuit temperature as well as the practical verification of the developed solutions.
