Today, the foresight paradigm must cope with new challenges emerging from an increased complexity of the technological endeavor to the increasingly complex interactions between the actors influencing the evolution of the field. Nanotechnology only accentuates these challenges through some of its specific characteristics: disruptive technology and interdisciplinary character as well as the pressure coming from considerable investments made in recent years.
