Abstract:We present an experimental demonstration of novel Quantum-dot Cellular Automata (QCA) circuits utilizing clocked architecture -a QCA latch and a two-bit QCA shift register. Devices are fabricated using metal tunnel junction technology and operate at low temperature. The operation of the circuits is demonstrated, and sources and methods of lowering of the digital errors are analysed. discussed. Future generations of the QCA devices based on molecular electronics are discussed. Much higher operational speeds with low levels of digital errors are expected.
