A FEM Based Network Approach for the Simulation of Miniaturized Electromagnetic Devices

Authors:R. Gollee and G. Gerlach

Keywords:device simulation, Finite Element Method, equivalent network, electromagnetic devices
Abstract:The paper proposes a new computational approach for analyzing miniaturized electromagnetic devices. This approach is based on a general structure of an equivalent network for the coupled electromagnetic problem. It enables automated derivation of the equivalent network by decomposition of the whole device structure into substructures with nearly homogenous field distribution. To assess the actual values of field quantities the device is modeled by 3D-FE simulations. The parameters of the lumped network elements will be obtained by analysis of these results.
