TechConnect Summit in Houston, TX, Marks Another Successful Year For the Global Technology Community in Challenging Times

Fortune 500 corporations, universities, and young companies presented and exhibited at the only marketplace for emerging technologies in the US.

The 2009 TechConnect Summit was held May 4-6 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. Held in conjunction with the NSTI Nanotech and Clean Technology conferences, we welcomed more than 3,500 attendees representing business, academic, and investment attendees from 70+ countries. Despite the challenging economy and worries about H1N1 just a week before the event, the Summit pushed ahead and brought together a great group of technology inventors, users, investors, and exhibitors from more than 15 countries. This year’s TechConnect Summit included:

Corporate Partnering Presenters
One of the exclusive programs to the Summit are the presentations from Fortune 500 companies. Companies presented their technology and investment areas of interest in clean technology, nanotechnology, or the life sciences. Each of the speakers addressed attendees about potential investment or collaboration opportunities. Speakers included:

IP and Company Presentations<
TechConnect's IP and Venture Forums provide universities and early-stage ventures a unique platform to present their technologies or business plans to the technology business and investment communities. These Sessions encouraged academia-industry partnerships and provided access to unique funding and partnership opportunities. More than 40 academic institutions and 65 early stage companies gave presentations to conference attendees in several industry sectors, including energy, advanced materials, biotech & pharma, and electronics.

Technology Marketplace Expo
This year’s TechConnect Marketplace Expo took place May 5 and 6. It was a unique exhibit and networking hall for universities, companies, and government agencies to showcase their patent portfolios, prototypes, and services to the global technology and business communities. More than 25 organizations and companies participated in the Expo. The Italian Trade Commission hosted networking breaks throughout the 2 days. Save the Date! TechConnect Summit 2010 Heads West: The 2010 TechConnect Summit will take place June 20-24 at the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, CA, US. IP and Venture submissions will open in the fall of 2009.
