UK Researchers Developing Nano-Spray with Advanced Anti-Microbial Properties
The anti-microbial spray would be used for coating food surface materials to kill pathogens, including E. coli and salmonella
The nano-enabled anti-microbial spray is the product of researchers at the University of Lincoln, the National Centre for Food Manufacturing, and Trent University. The process involves the embedding of a chemical compound into food surface materials, and can also be applied using spray-on coats to help to keep away microbes. The research group has been working on the spray for more than three years, with the spray being tested in both the lab and in factory settings.
