$6 million will be used by NanoBio to develop nasal spray vaccine
NanoBio, a spinoff company from the University of Michigan, will use the funding to develop a no-needle nanoemulsion technology that can treat respiratory syncytial virus, a leading cause of childhood hospital stays. The Foundation funding received by NanoBio is one of the largest ever given to a private, for-profit company. In 2009, more than 25% of grants distributed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation was given towards projects focused on the development of new vaccines.
