Nano-Transducers Hold Promise For Early Detection of Bone Cancer

UK researchers develop ultrasonic nano-enabled transducers for cellular imaging
The research team from the University of Nottingham, UK, created the tiny transducers as a shell-like structure, with two reflective materials on the outside, and transparent material in the middle. Since the structural property of cells change when afflicted with bone cancer, the nano-transducers can detect this cell change (its stiffness) and diagnose the tumors right away. The nano-transducers are not limited to medical applications; the university team has also received a funding grant to study the effectiveness of the novel transducers for testing nano-composite components in aerospace applications.RSS feed of Nano World News
