Boeing Announces ecoDemonstrator Program

Aerospace leader looks to accelerate environmental technologies for aviation applications

Boeing’s ecoDemonstrator Program will focus on areas related to fuel efficiency (such as fuel cell technology), noise reduction, and operational efficiency. The FAA recently awarded Boeing a $25 million investment-matching contract for technology development, and this program will be enveloped into the ecoDemonstrator Program. The Boeing Program also seeks collaborations across the aviation industry; e.g., the company plans to collaborate with IHI Aerospace of Japan to evaluate fuel cell technology to supplement onboard power.
