Indian and Japanese Researchers To Develop New Alert for Diabetics
India’s Nanotechnology Lab to build on initial research conducted by team of Japanese universities
The University of Madras will spearhead the research on creating a nano-enabled wrist watch that can alert diabetics about the levels of insulin in their bloodstream. The watch could also be used to remind a diabetic to take medications, and alert doctors if blood sugar levels have dropped too low. The Japanese universities involved in the initial research of the nano-watch include the University of Tokyo, University of Osaka and Nagoya University. Japanese researchers have agreed to transfer the technology to India, and in exchange they will sit on the Advisory Committee for the project.
