Researchers from Sweden and US Create Novel Lighting Component from Graphene
Graphene can be printed onto large flexible sheets, are inexpensive to produce, and are 100% recyclable
The research was conducted by Linköping University and Umeå University, Sweden, and Rutgers University, US. Current lighting display technology, better known as OLEDs, is used in consumer electronic devices such as cell phones and cameras. However, OLEDs continue to be relatively expensive to produce and challenging to recycle.
The new lighting component developed by the researchers is an organic light-emitting electrochemical cell (LEC). All the parts of the LECs can be created from liquid solutions and can be produced in a roll-to-roll process. These advantages allow for mass production and expanded applications, such as illumination capabilities onto walls.
