IBM Labs Creates Diagnostic Test System on Innovative Silicon Chip

IBM’s Zurich Labs’ test system is based on microfluidics

The novel testing system was developed using a combination of silicon chip technology, surface chemistry, and nanotechnology. IBM Zurich scientists Luc Gervais and Emmanuel Delamarche developed the lab-on-a-chip in collaboration with the University Hospital of Basel in Switzerland. IBM notes that their lab-on-a-chip, which measures 1 x5 cms, has multiple advanced benefits, such less sample volume required, portability, measurably faster, and able to test for multiple diseases.
