AES and A123 Systems Install Advanced Energy Storage System in Region of South America
The project will help improve the reliability of the electric grid in Northern Chile
The storage system helps the system operator manage fluctuations in demand, which allows for frequent regulation that is more cost effective and responsive than previous methods. AES Energy Storage and A123 Systems worked on the project at AES Gener with Parker Hannifin and ABB. This is AES Energy Storage's first major work outside the U.S. and is also the first lithium-based battery system to be deployed to the grid in Chile.
