Banyan Biomarkers Awarded Multi-Million Defense Contract

Department of Defense awards company $26.3 million contract to develop a diagnostic test for traumatic brain injury (TBI)
Banyan Biomarkers was co-founded by Dr. Ronald Hayes and Dr. Kevin Wang, who at the time were faculty members at the McKnight Brain Institute at the University of Florida. The contract will help fund significant research for a point of care test to diagnose TBI. Nearly 1 in 5 combat veterans from Afghanistan and Iraq have suffered some degree of brain injury due to bomb blasts. The diagnostic test holds potential for civilian applications as well.

TechConnect News note: Banyan Biomarkers was a presenting venture in the first TechConnect Summit 2006-Boston, MA, US! We congratulate Banyan Biomarkers on this latest award.
