Intel to Invest Billions in Next Generation Nanometer Manufacturing

Company announces $6-8 billion in funding to upgrade US factories, including a new fab facility in Oregon
Intel’s latest funding will focus on its next-generation 22- nanometer (nm) manufacturing process at facilities in Arizona and Oregon, including a new fab in Oregon. About 75% of Intel’s microprocessor manufacturing employment base is in the US. The projects will provide close to 1,000 new high tech jobs. The upgraded fabrication facilities will support the ever-growing PC market and additional computing markets, including portable mobile devices and embedded computing.
