Shell Gives $25 Million to MIT Energy Initiative

Shell Oil will provide $5M a year to MIT through 2015 to support R&D of sustainable energy technologies
Future projects will include research on existing and novel oil and gas technologies, including applications in nanotechnology, electronics and biochemistry. The formal agreement establishes Shell as a Founding Member of the MIT Energy Initiative. Both parties have been working together on advanced energy solutions since 2002. This announcement also emphasizes Shell’s technology strategy of open innovation, which includes collaborative research activities with universities and industry partners for innovative energy solutions.
