University Researchers Develop Advanced Sensor Technology

Tel Aviv University (TAU) has created a novel device that is more reliable and smaller
The research team has developed a nanometer sensor that can be added onto to MEMS devices, and claim that at the resolution at which their device has been created, they are able to feel motion at the atomic level. Improvements in sensors would enhance the experience and functionality of consumer video games, prosthetic limbs, even when the airbag in your car should inflate. The researchers have created their advanced device using abundant and cost-effective material—nanostructures that can be placed on a large surface and can be arranged without human manipulation--and the device can be easily coated or inserted into existing MEMS devices. The TAU team includes Professor Yael Hanein, Dr. Slava Krylov, and doctoral student Assaf Ya’akobovitz.
