Photronics to Invest More than $150 Million US Into Fab Facility in Korea
Photronics, Inc., announced this month it plans to build a state-of-the-art photomask fabrication facility in Korea. This new fab facility will support the development and production of advanced photomask technologies that are required to manufacture semiconductors utilizing 65nm, 45nm and below production processes. Photronics expects to complete construction by the end of 2007, and will invest between $150 and $300 million US into the facility. Photronics decided to build its new nanotechnology fab in Korea because the country offers investment incentives, has a high concentration of engineering talent, and is viewed by the company as being one of the fastest growing regions in the Asian marketplace.
