MKS Instruments, Inc. to Acquire Swedish Software Company
MKS, a provider of control and monitoring technologies for semiconductor and other advanced manufacturing processes, has entered into an agreement to acquire the privately-held Umetrics by the first quarter of 2006. The acquisition strengthens the partnership between the two companies to enable advanced process control by linking MKS' process monitoring and digital connectivity technologies with Umetrics' process analysis technology. Through the alliance, MKS Instruments looks to impact the software needs of multiple markets, including pharmaceutical, petrochemical, and semiconductor.
