Bayer MaterialScience AG Has Created High-Quality, Low Cost Carbon Nanotubes Ready for the Market
The German company Bayer Material Science AG plans to promote its nano-sized materials to the global market under the trade name Baytubes. Bayer claims that its carbon nanotubes (CNT) can be manufactured on an industrial scale at a much lower cost than before. Some examples of an industrial application of a Baytube include using the CNTs for a plastic car fender so that it can be painted without further pretreatment, or making a film for antistatic packaging materials. Each Baytube has a maximum mean diameter of 50 nm, and these CNTs can be customized for any application with different diameters, wall thickness, and lengths.
