Semiconductor Industry Association Reports Declining Sales in Several Regions, Despite Growth in Global Market
When comparing actual semiconductor sales in August 2004 and August 2005, the Americas, Europe, and Japan have all experienced a decline in sales, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association. Out of the three regions, Japan had the largest percent drop in sales at 6.6%, while the Americas had the smallest decline at 2.1 percent. During this same period, the Asia-Pacific region (which includes South Korea and Taiwan) experienced double-digit percent growth (20.4%). Total global semiconductor sales increased six percent in August.
