Subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company Granted U.S. Patent For Transgenic Bt in Plants
Mycogen Plant Seeds, Inc., a partner with Dow AgroSciences, LLC [NYSE: DOW], has U.S. patent rights to Transgenic Bt in plants. Transgenic Bt is a form of genetic engineering to modify crops with natural bacterial pesticide. This new patent gives Dow exclusive and expansive rights in the United States for this agricultural technology. Dow is open to discuss with companies ways to commercialize this technology. Mycogen Seeds is the biggest sunflower seed producer, and leads the way in production of alfalfa, soybeans, seed corn, and sorghum.
