TSMC Debuts 65-nm Chip Manufacturing Process
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd., one of the leaders in chip fabrication, unveiled its 65-nanometer manufacturing process during a trade show in Silicon Valley in late April. TSMC execs confirmed that their leading customers, including Altera Corp., have already received "functional prototypes" of 65-nm designs so that initial validations and benchmarking can begin. The first 65-nm wafers will ship by December, they added.
