Hitachi Ltd. and Hitachi’s Global Storage Technologies Develop World’s Smallest Read Head Technology For Disk Drives
Hitachi’s nano head technology will be capable of quadrupling current storage limits for hard drives. The advanced recording heads, labeled as current perpendicular-to-the-plane giant magnetoresistive1 (CPP-GMR), are in the 30-50 nm range. Hitachi looks to introduce its revolutionary read head technology to their shipping products within two years.
