Federal Lab-University Team Discover Amazing Strength of Nanoparticles
A collaborative effort between scientists at the University of Chicago and Argonne National Laboratory have led to an interesting discovery: a two dimensional sheet of nanoparticles is as strong as an ultrathin sheet of plexiglass. The nanothin sheet, just 50 atoms in thickness, has also shown that it can withstand relatively high temperatures. The novel nanofilm’s properties could be used for various advanced technological applications, from chemical filters to advanced sensors.
