Next Generation Refrigerators May Use Nanomaterials For Improved Insulation

British company General Applications is claiming that it has created a novel insulating nanomaterial that has the capacity, in particular, to decrease energy consumption by refrigerators. The company’s “Nanoskin” could be applied to the inside walls of the refrigerator to provide that added layer of insulation, which brings down the cost to run the refrigerator. The company has had a great response to its “Nanoskin” materials from European refrigeration companies and other companies that are looking into other potential applications for its nano-insulating technology.
